Project Info
Evolve at SDSU provides an innovative approach to maximize the University’s housing needs while creating memorable places for the student University experience. Providing 3,640 new beds Evolve is spread across two sites, the peninsula and University Tower East (UTE), to meet housing needs and provide quality and affordable on-campus living environments for generations of students to come. Evolve represents an incredible opportunity to positively impact the personal and academic development of on-campus student living. The peninsula site is made up of an amenity dining hall, four new apartment towers, and interconnected open space amenity areas creating new opportunities for student living. The design form abstracts the neighboring canyon contours to inform the organic arrangement of the towers, pedestrian network, two internal courtyards, and the generous park open space.
The peninsula courtyards serve as student collection areas, encouraging outdoor exploration with outdoor games, student gathering nodes, study areas, and flexible turf space for passive recreation. At University Towers East, the building and open space are strategically located to expand into the existing University Tower West building, creating a secure residential housing district. UTE includes a central courtyard for students to study, play outdoor games, lounge, dine, and gather, and extends east into the University Tower West project to create an interconnected open space district between the two towers.
