Solana Beach Coastal Rail Trail

The Solana Beach Coastal Rail Trail Linear Park is part of the larger Rails-to-Trails project that includes bicycle and walking trails from Oceanside to San Diego. The portion of trail that passes through Solana Beach was designed by Schmidt Design Group, Inc. to celebrate the “edge between land and sea”. Crescent moon shaped decks, poetry, paving patterns, meadow grasses, trees, and colorful planting, all celebrate this concept. Interpretive displays that highlight the history of Solana Beach were included, as well as 2 community gardens that are maintained by local citizens. A gateway and public art were created by local artists, along with the art and poetry that were incorporated into the design.
