Silver Strand

The Silver Strand “Nature’s Bridge to Discovery” is a narrow 8 mile long environmentally significant stretch of land where the scenic State Highway SR 75 and bike path links the Cities of Coronado and Imperial Beach just southwest of downtown San Diego, California. In collaboration with artist Paul Hobson and sculptor Carl Glowienke, the Schmidt Design Group, Inc. designed improvements which included walking/hiking paths, scenic overlooks, interpretive environmental education, public art, utility undergrounding, habitat restoration, and entry monuments for the two cities. The project underwent complex permit processing including acquisition of a coastal development permit from the California Coastal Commission.
