San Marcos Veteran’s Memorial

Designed in collaboration with artists TJ Dixon and Jim Nelson, this memorial honors any veteran who has served or is honorably serving in the United States Armed Services. The memorial includes a slightly curved wall with veterans’ names etched on travertine tiles. Families are able to memorialize their loved ones by purchasing permanent tile markers. The memorial features a symbolic “persevering Oak tree”, benches and quotes of courage and honor etched into the paving. The next phase of construction includes a start-shaped reflective pond honoring the five branches of the military. The first phase was completed in 2009.
