McDonald’s 12 Step Garden

The Schmidt Design Group Inc., in collaboration with Aesthetics Inc., designed this therapeutic 12 Step Healing Garden for the McDonalds Center at Scripps Hospital. The garden is a place for reflection, conference, and healing. Rich materials highlight a series of individual sanctuary spaces for meditation and reflection representing each step in the 12 step recovery process. The garden utilizes water features, a labyrinth, landscaping, and commissioned artwork to reflect the needs of the patients at each step of their recovery.
