Camino Ruiz Park

Schmidt Design Group, Inc. designed this 12 acre neighborhood park which includes 3 baseball fields, a central plaza, picnic areas, children’s play areas, environmental education overlooks, a restroom/concession building, and a native plant demonstration garden. The site is surrounded by sensitive native habitat open space. Schmidt Design Group, Inc. placed a number of unique educational overlooks around the park each of which features a different natural theme such as local birds, plants and animals, the river, the solstice, and cultural history. A decomposed granite path runs along the perimeter of the park where all of the plant materials used on the perimeter are California natives. The park also features a unique play area which incorporates Aesop’s fable “The Wind and the Sun”.
