Solana Beach Coastal Rail Trail - Solana Beach, California
This 1.5 mile linear park along the coast highway was designed to metaphorically celebrate the edge between land and sea. Crescent moon shaped decks, sculptural seating walls, poetry, planting, paving patterns, and organic seat walls (that artistically represent the coastal bluffs) all celebrate this concept. Public art by Betsy Schultz (entrance sign and monument) and Amber Irwin (sunburst sculpture) were integrated into the park along with artwork created by the Schmidt Design Group, Inc. in collaboration with the Public Art Committee of Solana Beach. Drought tolerant and native vegetation were utilized throughout.

El Monte Valley - San Diego, California
Located along the San Diego River in Lakeside California, the El Monte Valley will encompass approximately 590 acres. The Schmidt Design Group, Inc. prepared a conceptual master plan for the Endangered Habitats League in collaboration with the Helix Water District and the San Diego River Park Conservancy. The project will restore a portion of the San Diego River in the El Monte Valley to support wildlife and plant life that existed prior to the River being dammed, up-stream. A team of at least 6 other consultants from biologists to real estate specialists are involved in the project's development.
