Laguna Beach High School
Schmidt Design Group, Inc. was responsible for more than one million dollars of landscape improvements for this five acre public high school facility. Improvements included the addition of a new competitive size public swimming pool, redesign of existing courtyards, and renovation of existing planting and irrigation.

Longfellow Elementary School
As a community service, the Schmidt Design Group, Inc. prepared a conceptual master plan for the renovation of this existing 5 acre elementary school. The design included planned expansion, decorative paving, landscape improvements, signage, a series of decorative “stella” to highlight entrance ways, and a community wall utilizing tiles made by students and parents.

San Diego City Schools
Services for the San Diego City School District have included project management and design coordination for landscape and hardscape paving improvements and renovations, master plan design and presentations to the City and School District representatives. Projects include 23 elementary schools including Marston Elementary School and Marshall Elementary School, 12 junior high schools including Correia Junior High School and Roosevelt Junior High School and 10 high schools including La Jolla High School and Torrey Pines High School.

Imperial Valley Desert Museum and Information Center - Ocotillo, California
Design and construction drawings for The Imperial Valley Desert Museum and Information Center included a museum/information center, ethnobotanical gardens, interpretive trail system, and picnic areas. Assisting in the acquisition of a Federal ISTEA grant was part of the firm’s services.

Paradise Creek Educational Center - National City, California
The 6-acre Paradise Creek Educational Park will restore a 1/2-mile stretch of a highly impacted urban stream to its natural state. The park includes an elevated boardwalk through newly created marshland, interpretive signage, an outdoor learning center, a shade structure, and other improvements for the community.

Gompers Outdoor Science Laboratory - San Diego, California
Located in southeast San Diego, this project was an extension to the Gompers Secondary School (7-12) until it recently closed. The garden provided an important learning environment for “hands-on” environmental education. Major elements of the project included an alternative technology center, wetlands and native habitat zones, and an amphitheater for outdoor classes.
